Narrative Summary - November 1995

November 1995 was much warmer than normal, averaging 44.2ºF, 4.0º above
normal (40.2ºF), and was the 5th warmest November on record. The warmest
November averaged 46.5ºF (1990), while the coldest, in 1985, averaged 24.8ºF.
It was a month of extremes, with periods of above and below normal
temperatures. The period from November 1-6 averaged 9.8º below normal
(with three record low temperatures), and the period from November 24-30
averaged 14.9º above normal (with five record high temperatures). The following

Precipitation for November 1995 totaled 1.04 inches, 114% of normal (0.91
inches). The wettest November received 2.64 inches (1973), while the driest
received only a trace (1976). November snow fall totaled 1.0 inches, compared
to a November normal of 1.8 inches. The snowiest November received 18.3 inches
(1985), while numerous Novembers have not received any snow, as recently as
November 1990.

The peak wind gust of 56 miles per hour (mph) on November 29 wat the highest
gust recorded at the Hanford Meteorology Station since a gust of 61 mph was
recorded on December 8, 1993.

Total precipitation since January 1, 1995 is 9.99 inches, 191% of normal
(5.23 inches). This has been the second wettest first eleven months of the
year on record. The wettest was in 1950 with 10.48 inches.

The autumn season of 1995 (September, October, and November) was warmer than
normal, averaging 55.5ºF, 2.6º above normal (52.9ºF). The warmest autumn
averaged 57.1ºF (1990), while the coolest averaged 44.5ºF (1985). Autumn
precipitation totaled 2.70 inches, 169% of normal (1.60 inches). The wettest
autumn received 4.79 inches (1973), while the driest received 0.04 inches (1976)
