Narrative Summary - June 2005

The average temperature for June 2005 was slightly below normal, averaging 68.6°F, 0.7º below normal
(69.3ºF). The warmest June (1992) averaged 76.8ºF; while the coolest (1953) averaged 63.0ºF. There were 5
days during June with maximum temperatures >= 90ºF compared to a June normal of 8 days, and a record high of
18 days in June 1973. There was one day with a maximum temperature >= 100ºF, which was normal for June.
The greatest number was 9 in 1970. No daily temperature records were established in June 2005.



Precipitation for June 2005 totaled 0.06 inch, 15% of normal (0.41 inch). The wettest June (1950) received
2.92 inches; and the driest (2003 and earlier years) received only a trace. Total precipitation for 2005 (through
June) is 2.39 inches, 68% of normal (3.53 inches).

The average wind speed for June 2005 was 9.2 miles per hour (mph), 0.1 mph above normal (9.1 mph). The
windiest June on record (1983 and earlier years) averaged 10.7 mph, while the June with the lightest winds
(1982) averaged 7.3 mph. The peak gust for June 2005 was 50 mph on June 21. The record wind gust for June
was 72 mph in 1957.
