Narrative Summary - January 1995
January 1995 was warmer than normal, averaging 34.2ºF, 2.9º above normal
(31.3ºF). The warmest January averaged 42.5ºF (1953), while the coldest averaged
only 12.1ºF (1950). No daily temperature records were established during January 1996.
Precipitation for January 1995 totaled 2.14 inches, 271% of normal (0.79
inches). This was the third wettest January on record, the wettest in 1970,
received 2.47 inches, while the driest, in 1977, received only 0.08 inch. There
were 9 days with >= 0.10 inches, a new record for January. The previous record
was 8 in 1970. This was the highest monthly precipitation total since November
1973 when 2.64 inches was recorded.
January snowfall totaled 2.7 inches, compared to a January normal of 3.9 inches.
Seasonal snowfall through January 1995 is 7.0 inches (normal snowfall through January
is 11.4 inches).
