Narrative Summary - February 1995
February 1995 was much warmer than normal, averaging 43.1ºF, 5.1º above normal
(38.0ºF), and was the 5th warmest February on record. The month had three
distinct divisions, with February 1-8 averaging 8.5º above normal, February
11-16 averaging 8.5º below normal, and February 17-25 averaging 11.4º above
normal. The eight consecutive days from February 18-25 with maximum
temperatures >= 60ºF was a February record; the previous record was seven
in 1968. The warmest February averaged 44.5ºF (1958 and 1991), while the coldest
(in 1956) averaged 25.6ºF. The following daily temperature records were

Precipitation for February 1995 totaled 0.69 inches, 111% of normal (0.62 inches).
The wettest February, in 1961, received 2.10 in., while the driest, in 1988
and earlier years, received only a trace. Snowfall for the month was only a trace,
compared to a February normal of 2.0 inches. Total precipitation since January 1
is 2.83 inches, 201% of normal (1.41 inches).
The winter seasion (December 1994, January and February 1994) was much warmer
than normal, averaging 37.5ºF, 3.9º, above normal (33.6ºF), and was the sixth
warmest on record. The warmest winter, in 1967, averages 40.6ºF, while the
coldest, in 1949, averaged 24.2ºF.
Winter season precipitation totaled 4.19 inches, 172% of normal (2.44 inches),
and was the sixth wettest winter on record. The wettest, in 1959, received
5.06 inches, while the driest, in 1947, received 0.70 inches. Snowfall for the
winter, through February, totaled 7.0 inches, compared to a normal of 13.5 inches
